Chef Aída is a native El Pasoan, who afterhaving worked within the culinary arts most of her life, hasdecided to return to El Paso and offer her experience andprofessionalism to the El Paso community. After expressing a great interestin culinary arts as a young child, she decided to attend the NewEngland Culinary Institute in Vermont after high school in1989. This led to aculinary apprenticeship program with the Westin Hotels in bothWashington, D.C. and Dallas, Texas from 1990-1992. In 1992 Aída returned to El Pasowhere she worked as a cook and pastry chef at Café Central for ayear. She then went onto become the pastry chef for Emack and Bolio's andEpicura. During this time, she also began Aída'sCatering, making desserts for local renowned restaurants and cafés,such as The Bistro, Capetto's, and Dolce Vita. In 1995, Aída ventured off toDublin, Ireland for a year where she did a culinary and food andbeverage management internship at the Westbury Hotel.
In the fall of 1996 Aída attended the Schoolof Hotel and Restaurant Management at Cornell University, where shereceived her Bachelor's in Science degree with a concentration inFood and Beverage Management three years later. During her years at Cornell sheworked as a baker at the Statler Hotel and also assisted in openingand worked as a pastry chef at Madelaine's Patisserie andCafé. Aída's summerswere also busy: in 1997, Aída assisted in take-out meals for SanPascual's Kitchen in El Paso and in 1998 she did an internship atSusanna Foo Chinese Cuisine in Philadelphia.
Upon graduating from Cornell, Aída moved toNew York City where she was the catering manager for RestaurantAssociate's at Bertelsmann (Doubleday Books, Random House, BMG),Condé Nast Publisher's and Columbia University's Faculty Houseuntil 2001. Aída thenmoved back to El Paso where she earned her Master's degree inBusiness Administration from New Mexico State University. She began providingHome Replacement Meals to local families in May of 2004. Inlate 2005, her business expanded to include catering for corporateand private events.
